Executive Director of Special Education The district is seeking candidates for the position of Executive Director of Special Education, beginning July 1, 2025. The following are the essential job functions:Develops and administers school district's special services programs consistent with school district goals and objectives, as well as applicable law.Manages and supervises all employees in responsibility areas, including the recruitment, training, professional development and evaluation of staff under areas of responsibility.Oversees psychologists, social workers, transition coordinators and behavior consultants.Supervises and monitors the school district health services programs.Reviews and approves all outside placements for the school district.Supervises the CSE process, chairing CSE meetings or collaborating with administrators and teaching staff as needed; ensures IEP's are implemented.Ensure that student records are maintained and secured to ensure accurate information, reporting capabilities, and confidentiality in accordance with applicable laws.Recommends components of behavioral management plans to administrative and teaching staff consistent with the needs of special needs students.Meets with students, parents, and related school personnel regarding student needs.Prepares and manages special education and other pupil services budget.Applies for grants and oversee IDEA grant 611 & 619. Oversees matters related to the McKinney-Vento Homeless Act.Works with the district's attorney and represents the district in hearings related to FAPE.Collects, evaluates and enters PD data for NYS. The following knowledge, skills and abilities are required:Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding special education, students, and staff, including Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, IDEA, and FERPA.Effective verbal and written communication skills.Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to leadership, performance and professional growth.Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.New York State SDL Certification and Students with Disabilities Certification required.
