DISTRICT JOB TITLE: Assistant Principal QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:Assistant Principal must hold a NYS SBL or equivalent.A minimum of 3-5 years in education. Building-level or district-level experience preferred.Experience with district initiatives related to attendance, absenteeism, SEL, Data preferred.The ability to create, implement, and revise action plans.Dynamic leadership skills that support the District’s goals and instructional vision. Such alternatives to the above minimum qualifications as the Board of Education and the Superintendent find appropriate and acceptable will be considered.GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:The Assistant Principal is to assist the building principal in organizing and fostering a positive and safe environment to best meet the needs of all students, staff, and families. This includes such responsibilities as leading, directing, counseling, and supervising a variety of personnel and programs; creating effective family, teacher, and child communications; supporting, encouraging, mentoring, and evaluating staff; and fostering teamwork across all stakeholders.EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:Supervision of Faculty/Staff: Assists in hiring/orientation, evaluations, and general classroom management.Supervision of Students: Assists with orientation, counseling, discipline, due process, data gathering, and parent/student meetings.Attends or leads Child Study Teams: Assists with tracking and supporting attendance needs, developing consistency of practices, facilitates and schedules meetings, and is responsible for transferring records among schools.Curriculum/Instruction/Assessment: Assists with training and implementation of standards and initiatives, building master schedule, assessment and data analysis, and AIS/RtI.Summer programming: In cooperation with the Principal, manages summer programming including, but not limited to, needs assessment for student inclusion, hiring staff, scheduling, and various communications.Social Emotional Learning: Assists with planning, staff development, student recognition, elementary announcements, and oversight of budget regarding SEL programming.Serve as an evaluator and supervisor of the instructional staff.Work as a cooperative administrative team member and serves on various building and district committees.Facilities: Assists with creating and implementing safety and crisis response plans.High School AP serves as the high school summer school principalPerform other duties as may be assigned by the Principal or the Assistant Superintendent.TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:The Assistant Principal will be employed on a twelve (12) month basis. Salary and benefits are determined by the HFAA contract and in conference with the Superintendent of Schools.SALARY:Regionally competitive salary range and benefits. The HFAA sets minimum salaries of:EL: $82,000MS: $85,000HS: $85,000EVALUATION:The performance of this position will be evaluated by the building Principal in accordance with the provisions of the Board of Education Policy on Evaluation of Personnel and the HFAA Contract.REPORTS TO:The Assistant Principal reports to the building Principal.
