***Please note this position requires someone who can work a non-traditional schedule*** HFM BOCES Adult Literacy & Corrections Education seeks applicants for a full-time Adult Educator/Case Manager working with adult English Language Learners. This instructional role will integrate English as a Second Language, Civics Education, and job skills training preparing participants to:Become a paraprofessional (teacher aide) in schoolsSucceed in training to become a Certified Peer Recovery AdvocateSucceed in training to become a home health aide, personal care aide or certified nurse assistantThis is a full-time, 10-month teaching position; it is a non-traditional schedule that may require up to two evenings per week. There is a possibility of 30 days of work in the summer (July through mid-August) in response to demand. The position is grant funded; therefore, it is appointed annually as funding allows. Experience teaching adults, familiarity with an online learning platform, and curriculum development is preferred. Proficiency with computers and varied Windows based software is necessary.The goals of the program include helping adult English Language Learners: Improve reading, writing, speaking, listening and comprehension skills they will need in training programs and the workplace Develop digital literacy and other workplace skills to support educational and employment pursuits Transition to training and employment Obtain and advance in employment leading to economic self-sufficiency CertificationsAdult Educator - or eligibleESL/ENL or relevant K-12The successful candidate must hold a current NYS teaching certificate, or be qualified to attain a NYS Adult Educator’s certificate.
