Supervisor of TransportationTentative Start Date: July 15, 2024The Hendrick Hudson School District is seeking Supervisor of Transportation *see Supervisor of Transportation under Westchester County job descriptionJob Type: Full Time (12 months) with 12-month probationary period.Hours: Monday – Friday 6:30am – 4:30pm, or as required.Salary Range: $105,000 – 115,000Location: Transportation Department at District Office & Bus GarageQualifications:- Must possess a Commercial Drivers License, Class A or B, with P & S Endorsement- Exceptional interpersonal skills- Excellent supervisory and leadership skills- Ability to work well under pressure- Must meet all Civil Service requirements*- Must meet NYSED fingerprint requirements- Must be DMV 19A Certified Examiner and SED School Bus Driver Instructor (SBDI) certified- Knowledge and use of software applications such as routing program (district uses Transfinder, Traversa, etc.), google docs, spreadsheets, calendar, email, and database software in performing work assignmentsResponsibilities Include:- Coordinate and administer all phases of pupil transportation program with school owned buses servicing 2,300 students- Determines eligibility of students to ride on school buses in accordance with the District’s policy- Keeps a daily record of mileage, number of students transported and number of stops made on each route- Prepares monthly transportation report including the cost of operating each bus on the basis of expenses for gasoline, parts, labor, and other costs- Direct the maintenance, repair, and inspection of all transportation vehicles- Knowledge and maintenance of department and employee records for compliance with SED, DMV, DOT, DEC, and federal regulations- Supervise 75+ employees- Develop routes, prepares time schedules for buses, supervises loading, and establish bus stops for students both in and out of district private/parochial/sped students- Conduct driver training programs and safety classes for bus drivers- Prepare all state transportation reports- Determines disciplinary rules to be maintained on buses- Interviews prospective applicants and recommends the hiring of new bus drivers- Keeps time records for payroll purposes- Drafts specifications for transportation bids regarding department’s needs- Recommends preliminary budget for transportation- May be required to drive a school bus route in case of an emergency- Receives complaints as to transportation matters and makes necessary adjustments and corrections*To be considered for candidacy for this contingent permanent position, applicants must either be current Supervisor of Transportation or be reachable on an existing Supervisor of Transportation civil service exam list. Must meet the Westchester County Civil Service minimum requirements. Appointment shall be in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Westchester County Civil Service department.
