The employee follows a daily route with occasional deliveries to other designated stops as well as the occasional transport of individuals, when necessary. The work is performed under the direction of higher level staff. Candidate is expected to perform related work, as required. TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES: (ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY) Operates a motor vehicle in the performance of delivery and pick-up services as assigned; Delivers and receives letters/packages to legal offices, courts (both, Town and County Courts) as well as Town and County buildings and other designated stops; Picks up documents and materials as designated; Delivers supplies as directed; May be expected to perform minor maintenance of the vehicle, such as keeping the interior of the vehicle clean and tire pressure checked. Maintains necessary records to ensure proper distribution of materials, such as, inventory and/or mileage and maintenance records. FULL PERFORMANCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS: Working knowledge of the geographical area served; Ability to operate a motor vehicle in a safe and defensive manner; Ability to follow an assigned courier route; Ability to follow simple oral and written directions; Ability to get along with others; Dependability; Alertness; Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Possession of a valid NYS driver's license at the time of appointment.
