ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT PUPIL PERSONNEL SERVICESRequirementsA minimum of five years of administrative experience in special educationProven experience in the areas of social work, psychology, special education classroom teaching, speech and language, guidance, and/or related areasProven experience developing and implementing strategic plans for PPSPossess leadership attributes as stated in the Portrait of a Hastings Learner: Bold, Collaborative, Empathetic, Empowered, Inquisitive, and InventiveComprehensive knowledge of Federal and State legal requirements governing special education and homelessness Experience with Federal grants, State grants and reporting requirementsComprehensive knowledge of instructional best practice and structures that support student learning, especially as they apply to special education curriculum, programs and practices, and related servicesExperience using data and evidence to establish clear and measurable goals to monitor students’ progress and evaluate instructional programsExpertise in the hiring, supervision and evaluation of faculty and staff to promote professional growth and ensure high standards of professional accountability in diverse educational settingsExpertise as an instructional leader, capable of serving as a lead professional developer for a diverse and talented student services facultyAbility to collaborate with stakeholders and community agencies, including students, parents, faculty, and administration, CPSE agencies, BOCES administrators, private and residential schools, the courts, and other school districts in a shared commitment to the goals of the district and improving services to studentsProven experience developing and managing district-wide budgets under PPSComprehensive experience chairing CSE, CPSE, and 504 meetingsExtensive experience developing IEP and 504 plansProven experience in impartial hearings and the mediation/resolution process as requiredExperience with implementing the Culturally Responsive Sustaining and Educational Framework (NYSED) Bilingual language skills (Spanish or other) a plusNew York State Administrative Certification: SDL or SDA requiredNew York State Education Department fingerprint clearance requiredTwelve-month Tenure Track position, reporting to the Superintendent of SchoolsPosition start date: July 1, 2026Salary range: $195,000-$225,000AA/EEOHastings is an equal opportunity employer.
