The Harrison Central School District is seeking candidates for an Instructional Specialist vacancy at the elementary level. The successful candidate will hold New York State certification in Elementary, Grades 1-6 or its equivalent; have at least seven years of demonstrated expertise as a successful classroom teacher; and be capable of leading professional development for other teachers in research-based best practices. The responsibilities of Instructional Specialist role include, but not be limited to: Designing and delivering professional development for classroom teachers and related service providers across four elementary schools to support implementation of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme as a Primary Years Programme Coordinator Collaborating with classroom teachers to co-plan lessons, review and utilize student assessment data to inform instruction, and implement instructional strategies learned through professional development workshops Teaching and/or co-teaching model lessons for teachers to demonstrate instructional best practices and intervention strategies Working under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and/or Principals to facilitate grade-level/department meetings Participating in PTA presentations and/or Board of Education presentations as needed Assisting administrators in the evaluation and/or development of programs Providing assistance to coordinate testing Instructional Specialists shall: Highly competitive salary: $79,299 - $159,238 Receive full release time from their classroom teaching responsibilities Work up to twenty (20) days during the summer, at the direction of the Superintendent of Schools, and receive their contractual daily rate of pay for each day worked Receive an annual stipend in the amount of $5,000 Accrue seniority in the elementary or related tenure area
