In collaboration with the special ed teachers, support staff (teaching assistant and teacher aide), the program is dedicated to providing therapeutic and academic support for students whose social-emotional challenges significantly impact their academic performance. These students deal with a range of mental health issues, including anxiety, depression, emotional dysregulation, and behavioral concerns. The TLC offers a structured environment where students receive tailored therapeutic support from the TLC staff and school psychologists. Each student has at least one scheduled period daily to address both therapeutic and academic needs. The program supports students across the continuum of special education services, offering comprehensive and individualized support. Students can access the program as needed throughout the day, receiving immediate assistance when challenges arise. The goal is to coach students and facilitate their reintegration into regular classes, promoting resilience and independence. Using DBT skills, the program aims to equip students with improved coping skills, emotional regulation, and social skills. Additionally, teachers are supported through monthly professional development sessions and have access to a variety of in-house in-service training opportunities.
