Computer TechnicianLocation: Guilderland Central School DistrictStarting Date: As soon as practicable Responsibilities: This is a Competitive Level Civil Service position responsible for providing technology related support at the building level; assist in the implementation of the District Technology Plan; assist the Technology Leadership Team with usage reports and recommendations for the future. The successful candidate will be required to take the appropriate Civil Service Examination and be reachable from the list. While performing the duties of this job, the Computer Technician is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The Computer Technician must occasionally lift and/or move more than 40 pounds. Essential Duties: Providing on-site support for both instructional and non-instructional technology including internal and external networking (both wired and wireless); installation and use of hardware and software; maintenance and repair of technology equipment. Promote and assist in the training of staff and students in the use of technology hardware and software.Assist staff in resolving problems related to hardware and software and provide support in the installation and maintenance of the computer network.Provide support for curriculum integration. Thorough knowledge of Windows, Apple and Chrome Operating systems and associated hardware. Effective use of personal computers and related peripherals. Must also be able to support network software and curriculum integration. Ability to configure PC workstations to connect to file, print and cloud services.Ability to understand and interpret technical materials and instructions. Strong background with educational software and K-12 teaching and learning techniques. Strong background with office administrative software, including Microsoft Office and Google Workspace. Continuous learner, strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to relate to and work well with students and staff. Strong customer service skills.Support a wide variety of curriculum software along with utility software. Ability to work independently as well as to collaborate as a team member with other building technicians, teachers and administrators.
