DATE: November 19, 2024 The Board of Education of the Great Neck Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and visionary educational leader to serve as Assistant Superintendent for Secondary Education, replacing the incumbent retiring after eighteen years of service. This is a cabinet-level position reporting to the Superintendent of Schools. Salary competitive for region. Responsibilities: Provide student-centered leadership for and oversight of five secondary settings, including: curriculum/materials selection, implementation, and evaluation; supervision of instruction and building leadership; staff allocation, assignment, and selection; budget development; and oversight of extracurricular programs. Collaborate with building and district administrators, department heads, and teachers. Interact with stakeholders to respond to needs and concerns. Support consolidated grant development. Attend, make presentations at, and participate in Board of Education public meetings and executive sessions. Develop, deliver, and oversee professional development. Serve on or chair committees, including: APPR, Calendar, Co-Curricular Activities, Curriculum, Professional Development Plan, Staff Selection Advisory, Safety Team, Superintendent’s Conference Day Planning and Implementation, Teachers Center Policy Board. Co-Title IX Officer.Qualifications: Minimum five years of successful administrative experience as a secondary-level principal or central office administrator, plus five years of exemplary classroom teaching service. In-depth knowledge of secondary instruction and standards across content areas. Valid NYS administrative certification (SDL or SDA) required.The successful candidate will be student-centered, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to advancing the academic, social, and emotional growth of all students. They will possess strong leadership and administrative experience, along with effective communication skills to foster trust and transparency with students, staff, families, and the community.
