Great Neck Public Schools is seeking outstanding, dynamic candidates to apply for the central office Supervisor of Special Education position. The Supervisor reports directly to the Executive Director of Special Education and will work closely with staff in several buildings across the district. Great Neck is a nationally recognized pre-K through 12 public school district, located on the north shore of Nassau County, Long Island. Candidates should lead with integrity, have a proven record of collaboration, and exhibit excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Vacancy due to retirement. Confidential applications being accepted on OLAS through 2/16/24 and the position is expected to begin on 8/1/24.Qualifications:Extensive knowledge of state and federal special education laws and experience chairing CSE/CPSE/Section 504 meetingsExcellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with administrators, parents/guardians, the community, staff, and studentsKnowledgeable about current educational research, instructional strategies, meaningful professional development, testing, and evaluation/observation of staffExperience with programs serving students with NYSAA designation and knowledge of NYSAA test administration proceduresAbility to prioritize, plan, organize, and supervise District Wide K-12 Special Education programs and staffFamiliarity with special education services provided in private/parochial schoolsKnowledge of Augmentative/Assistive TechnologyEducational experience K-22 preferredMinimum 3 years of successful supervisory experienceNYS School SDL or SDA required.
