DIRECTOR OF GLOBAL LEARNING AND ACADEMIC EXCELLENCEPosition Overview: Greenburgh Central School District, a K through 12 International Baccalaureate school district is seeking a Director of Global Learning and Academic Excellence. This leadership position combines oversight of the district’s International Baccalaureate (IB) and Multilingual Education programs with a key focus on supporting the development and implementation of high-quality instructional practices across all content areas. This position plays a critical role in maintaining the integrity of the K-12 IB framework while fostering academic excellence district-wide, ensuring that curricula, instructional strategies, and professional development meet the diverse needs of students. The Director will serve as a collaborative leader, working with our talented educators across departments and content areas to foster a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.Supervises: IB Faculty and Coordinators; TESOL Faculty and Staff; World Language Faculty and Staff; Additional staff as assignedReports To: Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction, Programs, and PersonnelKey Responsibilities:International Baccalaureate (IB)Program Leadership: Oversee the district’s IB continuum (PYP, MYP, DP), ensuring compliance with IB standards and continual program enhancement.Staff Support: Provide guidance and leadership to IB coordinators, fostering effective program development and coordination.Professional Development: Lead ongoing professional development to promote IB teaching strategies and pedagogy across the district.Liaison Role: Serve as the primary liaison between the district and the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO).Accreditation: Manage the district’s IB review and accreditation processes to maintain program standards.Multilingual Education (World Language, Bilingual Education, & English as a New Language)Curriculum Oversight: Supervise curriculum development and instructional strategies for multilingual learners, ensuring alignment with NYSED standards and IB frameworks.Program Implementation: Ensure effective instructional practices for English learners, including heritage language speakers and students pursuing language proficiency for the IB diploma.Teacher Support: Collaborate with our exceptional teacher leaders to optimize the implementation of instructional strategies for multilingual learners.Professional Development: Provide targeted professional development and resources for teachers supporting multilingual students.Compliance: Ensure adherence to state and federal regulations regarding ENL programs and services.Academic ExcellenceInstructional Focus: Collaborate with the Assistant Superintendent to identify key instructional areas for district-wide focus and improvement.Advanced Learning Program: Oversee and evaluate the effectiveness of the Advance Learning Program (ALP), ensuring it aligns with district goals.Continuous Improvement: Utilize data from assessments, program evaluations, and classroom observations to inform decision-making and refine instructional strategies.Student Engagement: Engage in community partnerships and student performance/exhibition opportunities to enrich the educational experience.Teacher Evaluation: Use APPR to evaluate teacher effectiveness and ensure alignment with district priorities.Coordination and CommunicationCross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with our building principals, academic leaders, and PLC Content Leads to ensure alignment with district goals.Community Engagement: Communicate district program priorities effectively to parents, students, and community members to garner support and understanding.Budget Management: Collaborate with district leadership to manage and allocate program budgets effectively.Data Analysis: Regularly analyze student data to inform instructional decisions and assess program impact.Stakeholder Engagement: Facilitate ongoing communication with community stakeholders to promote district programs and maintain transparency.Qualifications:Certifications & ExperienceNYS District Leader Certification.Minimum of 5 years of experience in education, with at least 3 years in an instructional leadership role.Experience in supervising or supporting ENL, World Language, Arts, or advanced learning programs.Skills & AbilitiesProven ability to lead professional development initiatives and build capacity within teams.Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.Ability to use data to inform decisions and drive programmatic improvements.Commitment to student well-being and creating inclusive environments.
