Position The Greenburgh Central School District is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Speech, Hearing, and Language Therapist to provide support to kindergarten and first-grade students at Lee F. Jackson Elementary School. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering comprehensive early intervention services, encompassing screening, evaluation, diagnosis, and therapeutic intervention for students presenting with speech, hearing, and language impairments. This position necessitates a collaborative, student-centered professional who possesses a thorough understanding of early childhood development and is dedicated to promoting robust foundational communication skills through inclusive, culturally responsive methodologies. The therapist will engage in close collaboration with educators, families, and allied service providers to ensure the coordination of support, while diligently maintaining accurate documentation and ensuring compliance with all pertinent New York State regulations. This is a 10-month position; duties and responsibilities are subject to change, and additional, related assignments may be required. Duties The responsibilities below outline the primary duties of the position. This list is not intended to be all-inclusive, and additional related duties may be assigned as needed: Execute comprehensive early childhood screenings for incoming kindergarten, first-grade, and new entrant students to proactively identify potential speech, hearing, and language impairments; systematically review and respond to internal and external staff referrals. Conduct thorough evaluations and render diagnoses of communication disorders, subsequently formulating individualized, developmentally appropriate therapeutic intervention plans in alignment with established student needs and mandated Individualized Education Program (IEP) objectives. Deliver direct therapeutic services primarily focused on the development of foundational communication competencies, and meticulously monitor student progress through detailed, timely documentation utilizing the district’s designated digital platform. Collaborate professionally with classroom educators and school personnel to integrate essential speech and language strategies into early childhood instructional practices, including the judicious deployment of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices and other assistive technologies as necessitated. Provide expert consultative support through the modeling of best practices, professional coaching, and active participation in multidisciplinary team meetings to foster and sustain language-rich classroom environments. Maintain consistent, supportive, and professional communication channels with student families concerning evaluation findings, established therapy goals, ongoing student progress, and actionable strategies for reinforcing communication skills within the home environment. Coordinate requisite services with the school nurse and external healthcare providers to facilitate timely audiological assessments and the procurement of additional necessary services. Ensure rigorous adherence to all district, state, and federal mandates and regulations, including the maintenance of accurate documentation compliant with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Medicaid billing procedures and requirements, and external audit expectations and applicable confidentiality standards. Participate actively in multidisciplinary team meetings, continuous professional development activities, and collaborative endeavors with school staff and relevant external organizations to advance excellence in early intervention practices. Contribute to the cultivation of a nurturing, inclusive, and academically supportive environment in the Greenburgh CSD dedicated to supporting the developmental, academic, and social-emotional advancement of students. Qualifications Valid NYS certification as a Teacher of Speech And Hearing Handicapped (TSHH) and/or Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities (TSLD) Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills. Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive practices. Experience with Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) Knowledge of Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) development Bilingual/Multilingual strongly encouraged to apply APPOINTMENT: Appointment to this position shall be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, following a comprehensive review of the candidate’s training, experience, certifications, credentials, and demonstrated qualifications.
