Position The Greenburgh Central School District is seeking diligent, reliable, and highly motivated individuals for the position of Hourly School Monitor. This crucial role contributes significantly to the safety, well-being, and positive atmosphere within our schools by assisting in the maintenance of a secure, respectful, and orderly environment for all students and personnel. School Monitors assume a visible and active function in promoting student safety and supporting routine school operations. This enumeration is not exhaustive, and other related responsibilities may be assigned as necessary. Key Responsibilities Include: The responsibilities below outline the primary duties of the position. This list is not intended to be all-inclusive, and additional related duties may be assigned as needed: Oversee students during non-instructional periods, including mealtimes, recess, arrival, dismissal, and other scheduled times throughout the school day. Supervise and support students assigned to the isolation room, ensuring their safety, appropriate conduct, and overall well-being. Escort students as necessary to ensure safety and adherence to proper school procedures, including accompaniment to the Principal’s office, Nurse’s office, or other designated locations. Contribute to the maintenance of a safe, orderly, and positive school environment in hallways, cafeterias, gymnasiums, outdoor areas, parking facilities, and bus loading and unloading zones. Facilitate the safe movement of students throughout the building before, during, and after school hours. Inspect assigned areas, including restrooms and other locations, to locate students who may be absent from class without authorization. Observe and formally report student behavior, safety concerns, or incidents to designated school personnel in a timely manner. Provide assistance with attendance-related procedures and student accountability when required. Adhere to all school and district safety protocols, procedures, and directives issued by building administration. Execute additional related duties as assigned by the Building Principal to support the safe and effective operation of the school. Qualifications Possession of a high school diploma is required. Successful completion of the following workshops prior to employment: Child Abuse Identification, School Violence Prevention and Intervention, and Dignity for All Students Act (DASA). Fingerprinting clearance is mandatory. Demonstrated ability to adhere to written and verbal instructions. Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational proficiencies. A demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive practices. Bilingual/Multilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to submit an application. Prior classroom experience is preferred, but not requisite. Physical ability to meet the demands of an active school environment. APPOINTMENT: Appointment to this position shall be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, following a comprehensive review of the candidate’s training, experience, certifications, credentials, and demonstrated qualifications.
