Position The Greenburgh Central School District is seeking diligent, reliable, and highly motivated individuals to assume the role of Substitute Teacher Aides (1:1 Support). In this critical capacity, the Substitute Teacher Aide is responsible for providing direct, individualized support to an assigned student to facilitate success throughout the academic day. This encompasses assisting with academic participation, social-emotional development, behavioral intervention, and daily procedures under the guidance of the classroom teacher, special education personnel, and school administrators. The preferred candidate exhibits patience, professionalism, and a commitment to cultivating a secure, supportive, and inclusive learning environment that promotes student development and self-sufficiency. Other related duties may be assigned as necessary. Key Responsibilities Include: This position provides one-to-one support to a student. The responsibilities below outline the primary duties of the position. This list is not intended to be all-inclusive, and additional related duties may be assigned as needed: Provide consistent one-to-one support to an assigned student throughout the school day to facilitate their participation in instructional and school activities. Adhere to and reinforce established classroom routines, teacher directives, and school expectations to ensure a structured and consistent environment for the student. Offer assistance to the student with academic tasks and assignments as guided by the classroom teacher and instructional team. Support the student’s social, emotional, and behavioral development utilizing positive, respectful, and professional strategies. Facilitate safe and orderly transitions between classrooms, activities, and all school settings. Promote student independence while administering appropriate levels of support based on the student's individualized needs and the guidance provided by staff. Maintain continuous supervision of the student to ensure safety within the classroom and throughout the school environment. Provide support across all school settings, including classrooms, hallways, the cafeteria, playground, and during arrival and dismissal procedures. Assist with personal care and/or mobility requirements when necessary, in strict accordance with district protocols and specific training. Communicate observations, concerns, and relevant information to the classroom teacher or administrator in a timely and professional manner. Uphold strict confidentiality and comply with all district, state, and federal regulations pertaining to student information. Exhibit professionalism, patience, and a consistently calm and supportive demeanor when interacting with students and staff. Qualifications Possession of a high school diploma is required. Successful completion of the following workshops prior to employment: Child Abuse Identification, School Violence Prevention and Intervention, and Dignity for All Students Act (DASA). Fingerprinting clearance is mandatory. Demonstrated ability to adhere to written and verbal instructions. Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational proficiencies. A demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive practices. Bilingual/Multilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to submit an application. Prior classroom experience is preferred, but not required. APPOINTMENT: Appointment to this position shall be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, following a comprehensive review of the candidate’s training, experience, certifications, credentials, and demonstrated qualifications.
