GREENBURGH CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT Position Title: Director of Technology and Innovation Reports To: Assistant Superintendent for Business Supervises: Technology department faculty, staff, and instructional technology specialists Location: Central Office Position Overview: The Greenburgh Central School District is an International Baccalaureate World School District - a community of educators committed to equity, innovation, and academic excellence. Greenburgh Central School District seeks a dynamic and experienced Director of Technology and Innovation to lead all aspects of educational and operational technology. The Director of Technology and Innovation leads the strategic vision and implementation of instructional and operational technologies across the district. This role includes championing innovation through the integration of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), to enhance teaching and learning, improve data-informed decision-making, and increase operational efficiency. The Director will oversee infrastructure, innovation, cybersecurity, instructional technology, digital communication, and fulfills the duties of Chief information Officer (CIO), ensuring that all technology-related efforts are aligned with district goals and in full compliance with New York State regulations.Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Planning & Leadership- Develop and revise a comprehensive, district-wide Technology Plan in collaboration with the Office of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment for timely submission to the State Education Department.- Lead the design and implementation of technology strategies that support academic and operational excellence.- Explore and implement Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions for district operations, such as predictive analytics for enrollment, staffing, or transportation, and automated workflows for HR or communications. Infrastructure & Operations- Oversee the maintenance, enhancement, and security of the district’s IT infrastructure, including networks, devices, servers, and instructional technologies.- Manage assigned technology projects and instructional program components to ensure timely execution and regulatory compliance.Instructional Technology Support- Supervise the work of the Instructional Technology Specialist and provide leadership and professional development in the integration of technology into teaching and learning practices.- Collaborate with district leaders to enhance curriculum delivery using innovative tools and methods. Compliance & Cybersecurity- Ensure strict compliance with Ed Law 2-d, FERPA, and all local, state, and federal regulations regarding data privacy and security.- Implement and maintain strong cybersecurity protocols to safeguard sensitive student and staff data.- Serve as the district’s Chief Information Officer (CIO), overseeing all required state and federal data submissions (e.g., demographic, enrollment, financial, and testing data) and ensuring the integrity and confidentiality of all district data systems.Communication & Digital Presence- Oversee the maintenance of the district and school websites and social media platforms, ensuring content is accurate, timely, and aligned with district messaging.Budget & Resource Management- Develop and manage the department budget; oversee the procurement of hardware, software, and digital tools to maximize ROI and operational efficiency.- Lead long-range technology planning and investment in alignment with the district’s strategic goals and instructional priorities.Staff Supervision & Team Development- Supervise, support, and evaluate technology staff, including technicians, specialists, and support personnel.- Promote team effort and foster a collaborative, innovative, and service-oriented culture within the Department of Technology. Professionalism & Ethics- Display professional integrity, sound judgment, and a commitment to confidentiality in all matters.- Serve as a role model for ethical leadership and data stewardship across the district. Essential Skills:- Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of various technologies relevant to K-12 education, including hardware, software, networks, and cybersecurity.- Educational Knowledge: Familiarity with curriculum development, instructional design, and effective technology integration strategies.- Leadership and Management: Ability to lead and motivate a team, manage projects, and make strategic decisions.- Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Effective communication with diverse audiences, including teachers, students, parents, and administrators.- Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and resolve technical and pedagogical challenges. Qualifications:- Education Preferences: Bachelor’s degree in educational technology, information systems, computer science, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred)- Required Certification: NYS School District Administrator (SDA), School District Leader (SDL), or meets Westchester County Civil Service minimum requirements- Experience:Minimum 5 years of experience in educational technology, IT administration, or K-12 instructional technology leadership.Demonstrated knowledge of instructional design, digital learning environments, and educational software platforms.Deep understanding of K-12 infrastructure, systems integration, and cybersecurity best practices.Experience managing Ed Law 2-d compliance and student data privacy.Exceptional leadership, project management, and communication skills.Ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders including educators, administrators, students, and families.
