Greenburgh Central School DistrictJob DescriptionTitle: Interim Assistant Superintendent for Business (Potential Full-time Appointment)Reports To: Superintendent of SchoolsSupervises: Business Office; Facilities; Transportation; Food Services; Security; Technology; Non-instructional PersonnelPosition Overview:The Interim Assistant Superintendent for Business serves as a key member of the Superintendent’s Cabinet and provides strategic leadership and oversight for all financial and operational functions of the Greenburgh Central School District. This role is critical in aligning fiscal resources to the district’s mission of academic excellence, equity, and whole-child development.Located in Westchester County, just north of New York City, Greenburgh Central School District (GCSD) is a richly diverse and forward-thinking learning community serving approximately 1,600 students from Pre-K through grade 12. With recent investments in instructional technology, capital improvements, and innovative educational programming, GCSD is entering an exciting new chapter of strategic growth and transformation.The Interim Assistant Superintendent for Business will play a central role in ensuring that financial and operational systems support the district’s vision, promote equity and access, and meet the highest standards of fiscal integrity. This leader will work closely with district and building-level administrators, the Board of Education, and community stakeholders to ensure effective planning, resource management, and transparent communication in support of student success.This interim position has the potential to transition into a full-time, permanent role.Key Responsibilities:Strategic Financial LeadershipLead development, implementation, and monitoring of the district’s annual budget in alignment with district goals.Provide accurate and timely financial forecasts, reports, and presentations to the Superintendent, Board of Education, and stakeholders.Conduct long- and short-term financial planning, including fund balance projections and cash flow analysis.Oversee all accounting operations, including receivables, payables, payroll, general ledger, and internal controls.Monitor investment opportunities and borrowing needs; manage debt and bond-related activities.Coordinate and respond to internal and external audits, including preparation of corrective action plans.Budget Negotiations and Labor RelationsServe on district bargaining teams for all collective bargaining negotiations.Develop cost analyses and financial projections related to contract proposals.Manage contract administration and implementation with all bargaining units.Conduct regular staffing and budget reviews in collaboration with appropriate leadership.Operational OversightSupervise and support district departments including Facilities, Transportation, Food Services, Security, and Technology.Oversee all procurement activities, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and Board of Education policies.Manage bidding and RFP processes for goods and services; act as the District’s Purchasing Agent.Ensure all insurance policies (health, liability, property, etc.) are adequate, competitive, and cost-effective.Coordinate the administration of retirement plans, employee benefits, and unemployment/workers’ compensation programs.Non-Instructional Personnel Management – Responsible for overseeing human resources functions related to non-instructional employees, including recruitment, compliance, and personnel support.Facilities and Capital ProjectsSupervise the Director of Facilities and Operations and oversee operations, maintenance, and preventive maintenance of all school buildings and grounds.Collaborate on capital planning, project coordination, and financing of school construction projects.Review proposals for renovations, expansions, and facility improvements.Manage building use by outside organizations and ensure compliance with district policies.Transportation and Food ServicesSupervise the transportation vendor to ensure compliance with state regulations and safety standards.Oversee the food services vendor to ensure program efficiency, compliance, and student-centered service.Board and Community EngagementAttend Board of Education meetings and serve as a key advisor on financial and operational matters.Facilitate the assigned Committees in collaboration with designated members.Provide clear, consistent communication and training on financial procedures, policies, and goals.Policy and ComplianceRemain current on all applicable laws, regulations, and Board of Education policies, ensuring the district remains compliant and informed.Implement systems and practices that ensure financial integrity and operational effectiveness.QualificationsMinimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in school or municipal finance and operations.New York State School District Business Leader (SDBL), School Business Official (SBO) Certification, or School Business Administrator (SBA) required.Strong command of New York State education law, school finance, capital project funding, and operational best practices.Demonstrated success in leadership, collaboration, strategic planning, and ethical financial stewardship.Proficiency in financial management systems and presentation tools.Ability to work extended hours and travel to school district sites as required.Preferred QualificationsExperience in a K–12 public school setting.Familiarity with New York State aid funding formulas, tax levy limits, and capital project processes.Strong communication skills and a commitment to community engagement and continuous improvement.Additional responsibilities and duties as assigned by the Superintendent.Salary & BenefitsSalary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
