Library Media SpecialistThe Germantown School District is a comprehensive, rural public school district that is dedicated to providing opportunity, resources, environment , and instruction so that all students may be productive, successful, independent, responsible, and contributing member of our global society.As a small rural district, Germantown CSD is the center of learning and community life in picturesque Columbia County. The district serves approximately 500 students in a single PK-12 building. The District is located 40 miles south of New York State’s Capital, Albany, and 120 miles north of New York City with spectacular views of the Catskill Mountains and Hudson River which have long served as the backdrop for artists.Our District goals are to provide a safe, inclusive environment for all, promote community engagement and to continue to develop innovative PreK-12 curriculum, instruction and assessment.Germantown CSD has an opening for the 2025-2026 school year and is now accepting applications for a full-time probationary Library Media Specialist for grades PreK-12.Essential Attributes:Proven ability to effectively collaborate with colleagues and partner with students, families and community in the learning process.Consult with teachers as they plan instruction to ensure the incorporation of appropriate library, media and technology into daily instruction in order to build information literacy skills and meet state learning standards and requirements.Experience designing student-centered lessons and engaging curricula that individually challenges students and inspires them to grow. Develop and implement programs to encourage reading and literacy among students of all ages.Ability to serve as an instructional coach for a wide range of educators with varied teaching styles, experience levels, and subject areas.Manage the daily operations/functions of a 21st century learning space, including maintaining a welcoming learning environment with flexible seating and innovative learning spaces.Manage data systems for ordering, circulation, and the management of instructional resources.Serve as the building expert in research methodology, proper citation, and modern/innovative academic research strategies.Certification: NY State Library Media Specialist Certification RequiredThis position includes a competitive salary, comprehensive benefits package, and extensive opportunities for professional learning, continued growth, and mentored support.
