Custodial WorkerSalary as per CSEA ContractMinimum $40,800 in accordance with CSEA agreementSalary commensurate with experienceLocation: C.J Hooker Middle SchoolShift: M-F 3:00 pm-11:30 pmUnder the general supervision of a Head Custodian and/or Custodian the custodial worker has the responsibility for the performance of routine cleaning and minor maintenance tasks. Cleaning tasks are performed according to well defined procedures and established policies. Supervising the work of others is not a responsibility of this position. Does related work as required. Typical work activities:Work consists of cleaning of restrooms and replenishing usable items; sweep and mopfloors and stairwells; vacuum rugs; wax and buff floors. Use of floor machines, autoscrubber and burnishing machines is required. Washing, dusting and polishing surfacesand finishes, empty waste receptacles and support events and activities that occur daily inthe building. May assist other building associates as directed; Responds totrouble/request for service calls from two way radio, phone or text msg. Salt and shovelwalkways and operate a snow blower. Snow removal is mandatory.May mow lawns and perform other grounds/landscape tasks using hand and powerequipment as directed.Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics:Good knowledge of the practices, tools, equipment and materials used in the cleaning,maintenance and repair of buildings and associated equipment; working knowledge of theoperation of mechanical equipment; mechanical aptitude; ability to follow oral andwritten directions. Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position,but at a minimum be able to stand for most of an 8 hour day, lift 100 lbs., climb and workoff ladders and scaffolding while using hand and power tools. Must be a self-starter;ability to identify and prioritize work tasks, and complete cleaning, repairs andmaintenance in a workman like manner. Must be willing to work with and support othersboth in the department and within other district departments.Minimum Qualifications:Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.Desired: Experience and working knowledge of building cleaning practices, supplies, andequipment; ability to follow written and oral instructions; willingness to perform routinecleaning tasks and ability to thrive in a school environment. Ability to measure, count andknow liquid and dry units of measure. Three letters of reference from someone familiar with your work and capabilities is requiredSuccessful candidates subject to a background check.
