The successful candidate will play a crucial role in providing mandated services outlined in students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), contributing to their overall well-being and academic progress. This position requires a strong understanding of special education regulations, a commitment to evidence-based practices, and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.Key Responsibilities:Provide direct counseling and therapeutic services to students as mandated by their IEPs (individual and/or group sessions).Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other support staff to create comprehensive student support plans.Participate in IEP meetings, contributing to the development and review of student goals and objectives.Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress and concerns.Maintain accurate and timely documentation of services provided, observations, and student progress.Facilitate positive school culture and provide crisis intervention when necessary.Adhere to all ethical and professional standards, as well as school policies and procedures.Qualifications:Master's degree in School Social Work or School Psychology from an accredited program.NYS Certification as a School Social Worker or School Psychologist (permanent or provisional with a plan for permanent).Prior experience working with students with special needs in a school setting is preferred.Strong clinical assessment, counseling, and intervention skills.Ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse team of professionals.Demonstrated ability to build rapport with students, families, and staff.
