Galway Central School has an anticipated vacancy and is now accepting applications for a full-time probationary Jr./Sr. High School Principal with a start date of July 1, 2025.BASIC FUNCTION In compliance with policies of the Galway Board of Education, the Principal is the chief supervisory and administrative officer of the building. The Principal is directly responsible for providing the instructional leadership and direction for personnel, pupils and parents in accomplishing the mission of the school. Approximately 435 pupils and 55 employees fall within the Principal's jurisdiction. QUALIFICATIONS AND CHARACTERISTICS 1. New York State Certification as a School Administrator SBL or SDL2. Successful administrative experience at the secondary level 3. Effectiveness in developing positive working relationships 4. Strong leadership traits 5. Superior work ethic and attention to detailREPORTING AND EVALUATION The school Principal reports directly to the Superintendent of Schools who will be responsible for performance evaluation. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES? (Illustrative only) 1. Provide leadership to the District staff to fulfill the goals of the Galway Central School District as defined by the Superintendent of Schools and the Board of Education. 2. Assist and/or lead in planning, organizing, coordinating, and controlling the instructional program of the school building. 3. Assume prime responsibility for the recruitment and screening of applicants to be recommended for hiring to the Superintendent of Schools. 4. Supervise and support PK-12 Assistant Principal and Athletic Director. 5. Assist Athletic Director in game supervision. 6. Organize and conduct an on-going program of evaluation of faculty and staff personnel assigned to the building and make periodic reports to the Superintendent of Schools. 7. Implement all appropriate board, state, and federal policies, rules and regulations in the school building. 8. Plan and implement a building budget consistent with the entire District budget. 9. Organize and control the general building administration and scheduling of all activities for the building.10. Maintain a continuous program of professional self-improvement through a variety of activities. 11. Organize a program for dissemination of information of pupil achievement and evaluation. 12. Plan and maintain a positive public relations program for the school building and community. 13. Complete projects assigned by the Superintendent of Schools. 14. Execute all board of education policies and administrative directives as they apply to the Galway Central School, and enforce education law and New York State Education Department regulations as directed. 15. Develop and maintain a working relationship and serve as a school liaison to community, parent, teacher, and student groups. 16. Work with other administrators, participate and contribute to administrative team meetings. 17. Work to create and maintain a school environment that is safe and conducive to learning. 18. Oversee the implementation of RULER activities throughout the school year. 19. Evaluate the High School’s ability to transition to the NYS Blue Ribbon Commission on Graduation Measures 20. Maintain and advance the High School CTE Pathways in Agriculture, Pre-Engineering and Business.
