ANTICIPATED VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT ATHLETIC TRAINER (10-MONTH POSITION) Salary: $70,000 (Prorated), Plus Benefits Glen Cove City School District is committed to recruit and hire the most qualified staff members who are dedicated to the success of all students and the Glen Cove City community. Qualifications: Valid certification as an Athletic Trainer issued by the National Athletic Trainer's Association Board of Certification (NATABOC) or the New York State Department of Education. Valid First Aid or CPR certificate. Considerable knowledge of accident and illness prevention, safety measures, and recovery from athletic injuries and illnesses. This is a non-competitive Civil Service position, subject to approval by the New York State Civil Service Commission. Fingerprint clearance through NYSED. Essential Duties (include, but are not limited to): Advises teachers and coaches relating to proper strength, development, and training programs for specific activities and sports. Assists coaches and students in the proper selection, use, fitting, and care of protective equipment. Instruct students, teachers, and coaches relating to the prevention of injuries, including the proper use of braces, taping, and other devices. Assists the school physician in developing a plan to restore an injured student to full participation. Provides appropriate follow-up procedures for the injured student after consultation with the treating physician and the school physician. Evaluates the effectiveness of follow-up procedures, and reports progress of injured students to appropriate staff and health care professionals. Supervises the school athletic training room, and maintains and orders supplies for the training room, and first aid kits for coaches. Maintains records related to student participation-related injuries and illnesses. In consultation with the Coordinator of Physical Education, Health, and Athletics, establishes and directs emergency procedures to be used when injuries occur during class sessions, practice, or in competition. Assists with annual health screening and testing procedures. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Coordinator of Physical Education, Health, and Athletics or their designee. Location: Glen Cove High School Time: Monday–Friday: 3:00–8:00 p.m.; Saturday: 8:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. 30 hours per week. Hours are subject to change based on scheduled athletic events.
