ANTICIPATED VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT CHAIRPERSON OF MATHEMATICS (10-1/2 MONTH POSITION) Stipend: As Per Contract Glen Cove City School District is committed to recruit and hire the most qualified staff members who are dedicated to the success of all students and the Glen Cove City community. Job Description: To provide leadership for the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the district's 6-12 mathematics programs. The position supports instructional excellence, curriculum alignment and student learning. Qualifications: NYS SDA/SDL & Mathematics Certifications Extensive knowledge of the NYS Grades 6-12 Learning Standards and priorities Strong instructional leadership experience Bilingual in Spanish a plus Must have full fingerprinting clearance Essential Duties (include, but are not limited to): Supervise subject-area staff, including conducting evaluations and guiding curriculum development. Serve as a resource for teachers and administrators by providing academic leadership in mathematics. Design and lead professional development opportunities grounded in current best practices and research in mathematics education. Support the implementation of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) in mathematics. Develop long-term goals, action plans, and innovative initiatives for the department. Oversee the selection, implementation, and supervision of instructional materials for the department. Administer and analyze midterms, finals, Regents Examinations, and other standardized assessments to guide instructional improvements. Support the integration of technology, digital tools, and innovative instructional practices in mathematics instruction. Manage the departmental budget, staffing, and recruitment processes. Perform other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools or their designee.
