VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT CHAIRPERSON OF SOCIAL STUDIES(10-1/2 MONTH POSITION)PROBATIONARYStipend: As Per ContractGlen Cove City School District is committed to recruit and hire the most qualified staff members who are dedicated to the success of all students and the Glen Cove City community.Qualifications:NYS SDA/SDL & Social Studies CertificationsExtensive knowledge of the NYS 6-12 Social Studies FrameworkMust have full fingerprinting clearanceEssential Duties (include, but are not limited to):Supervise subject-area staff, including conducting evaluations and guiding curriculum development.Serve as a resource for teachers and administrators by providing academic leadership in social studies.Design and lead professional development opportunities grounded in current best practices and research in social studies education.Foster student opportunities aligned with the New York State Seal of Civic Readiness.Develop long-term goals, action plans, and innovative initiatives for the department.Oversee the selection, implementation, and supervision of instructional materials for the department.Administer and analyze midterms, finals, Regents Examinations, and other standardized assessments to guide instructional improvements.Manage the departmental budget, staffing, and recruitment processes.Perform other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools or their designee.Application Instructions: Qualified candidates should apply via OLAS with a resume and letter of interest to Andrew DiNapoli, before the deadline.Location: Middle School and High SchoolEffective: 2025-2026 School Year
