Qualifications:New York State Reading or Literacy CertificationKnowledge and understanding of Next Generation Learning Standards, familiarity with the Science of Reading research and implications for student learningDemonstrate a deep understanding of Responsive Literacy Program including experience teaching Units of Study in Reading, Writing, & Phonics; Fundations; and an understanding of the Workshop modelExperience with Reading Intervention Instructional Programs, including Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, LLI, Seeing StarsGreat communication skills, strong classroom management skills, ability to differentiate instruction for various levels of learnersSpanish Bilingual candidates preferred, fingerprinting clearance requiredEssential Duties (include, but are not limited to):Teach targeted literacy interventions to small groups of students using research-based strategies and resources; implement strategic, data-driven reading instruction for small groups of students in alignment with the RtI Framework for Tier II & III interventionUse appropriate reading materials during small group instruction aligned to student-specific goals & learning needs Administer reading assessments in alignment with District Assessment Calendar to assess individual student needs and implement appropriate interventionsTeach diverse population of at-risk studentsEstablish and maintain positive, respectful and supportive relationships with all students and staffCollaborate with colleagues as well as school and district administratorsCommunicate student progress with families, including maintaining records and providing evidence of growth and progress to parents and studentsPrevious applicants still under consideration.
