VACANCYTV Production Technician:Part-Time (20 hours per week)Salary: $22.00 per hourGeneral Responsibilities:The part-time TV Production Technician position involves operating and maintaining studio television cameras and related equipment, including testing and aligning cameras during rehearsals, productions, and events. They are also involved in post-production work, including editing and all related post production activities including archiving. The work is performed under general supervision of the TV Production teacher with leeway allowed for exercise of independent judgment in carrying out technical details of the work independently. Supervision may be exercised with student production assistants or trainees.Typical Work Activities Under the Guidance of the TV Studio Teacher: Assists in the television video production facility including operation of control room equipment, remote equipment, edit room, podcast studio, and connections to auditorium equipment. Maintains a wide variety of television studio production equipment including cameras, audio, lighting, switchers, special effects equipment, etc. Operates equipment to regulate the quality of picture and sound transmitted from the control room. Operates video projection equipment, lighting control devices and other related video-related equipment. Demonstrates to teachers and assists students in the use of television production equipment. Assists in such tasks as research, design of and modifications and refinements to existing video production equipment, under the guidance of the TV Studio Teacher. Aids faculty to ensure compatibility of all equipment and facilities to existing or pending academic curricula. Assists in the supervision of student assistants and student technical trainees in video production activities. Assists in the maintenance of inventory of video repair and replacement supplies.Skills and Experience in the following areas preferred: Thorough knowledge of the methods, procedures and equipment used in the origination and recording or transmission of television programs and digital recordings. Thorough knowledge of television control room procedures including quality control of sound and picture. Video editing and sound mixing in both analog and digital formats. Ability to keep program logs and related records. Ability to assist in the training of student technical assistants. Ability to read and interpret electronic and schematic diagrams. Skill and imagination in adopting available resources to programming needs.
