DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESOversees visitors and students in hallways or assigned areas during school hours. Assists with crisis intervention and prevention. May be temporarily assigned to supervise special assignments; for example, school trips, special events, breakfast club and assemblies.Prepares reports as directed. Examples of reports; maintain student attendance records, Conflict Resolution Reports, Critical Incident Reports, & Life Space Interview Reports.Uses computer applications or other automated systems such as spreadsheets, word processing, calendar, e-mail and database software in performing work assignments.Possible home visitsREQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND ATTRIBUTES: Skill in dealing with students with emotional/behavioral problems. Ability to read, write, communicate and follow instructions in English. Physical condition commensurate with duties of the position. SPECIAL REQUIREMENT FOR APPOINTMENT IN SCHOOL DISTRICTS:In accordance with the Safe Schools Against Violence in Education (SAVE) legislation, Chapter 180 of the Laws of 2000, and by the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education, candidates for appointment in school districts must obtain clearance for employment from the State Education Department prior to employment based upon a fingerprint and criminal historybackground check.Apply on OLAS
