The Occupational Therapist is responsible for assisting students ages 6-21 to successfully participate in school and realize their fullest potential. Collaborating within clinical services groups and IEP teams, the Occupational Therapist will perform screenings and evaluations, develop treatment plans and provide direct and consultative services. Treatment occurs in a variety of settings including classroom, sensory gym/OT clinic, horse/small animal barns, garden/greenhouse, wildlife rehabilitation and vocational programs. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:• Provide direct and consultative occupational therapy services to students at Green Chimneys’ according to IEP and following professional standards of best practice• Establish and maintain effective relationships with students and staff members• Identify and utilize appropriate methods for assessing students to determine therapeutic priorities• Develop and implement appropriate intervention plans• Reassess the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions and modify according to the needs of the student • Consult with classroom and direct care staff regarding implementation of recommended interventions within the classroom and/or dorm setting• Participate in relevant team meetings and effectively communicate the critical information • Demonstrate timely and consistent completion of documentation to meet internal and external requirements• Complete timely documentation utilizing electronic documentation service (IEPDirect and EasyTrac) Job Qualifications: Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy required; Master’s degree preferred. One year experience, preferably working with children and/or in a mental health setting. Licensure/Certification: Licensed by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT). Current New York State license.
