We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Elementary School Counselor or School Social Worker to join our team and make a lasting impact. The successful candidate will begin on or about August 18th, 2025. This is a full-time probationary appointment leading toward tenure. This position will be posted on OLAS and application may be submitted there. Application deadline is until July 25, 2025Position Overview:The Elementary School Counselor or School Social Worker will serve as a vital member of the student support team, providing direct and indirect services to students in grades K–6. This individual will promote students' academic achievement, personal growth, mental health, and overall well-being while working collaboratively with staff, families, and outside agencies. Initial assignment to be determined and will be at Dexter or Brownville Glen-Park Elementary School. Key Responsibilities:Provide individual and group counseling to address academic, emotional, behavioral, and social needs.Support the development and implementation of social-emotional learning (SEL) curriculum.Partner with families and community resources to support students facing trauma, mental health challenges, or other barriers to learning.Conduct risk assessments and crisis interventions as needed.Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and the MTSS team to identify and support students requiring Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions.Contribute to a positive school climate by facilitating restorative practices and promoting inclusivity.Maintain accurate and confidential student records and reports.Qualifications:Required (one of the following):NYS Certification as a School Counselor, ORNYS Certification as a School Social Worker (LMSW or LCSW preferred)Preferred:Experience working in an elementary school settingStrong interpersonal and communication skillsCulturally responsive, student-centered approachFamiliarity with trauma-informed practices, MTSS, and restorative practicesSalary and Benefits: Salary will be commensurate with experience and in accordance with the negotiated contract.
