The successful candidate will begin on or about September 1, 2024. This is a full-time probationary appointment leading toward tenure. Preference to individuals with multiple certifications. Those with certification in special education and those pursuing will be considered. This position will be posted on OLAS and application may be submitted there. Existing General Brown teachers desiring a transfer in assignment must fill out a Teacher Transfer Request Form and submit to the District Office. Applicants that have previously submitted are still under consideration. Responsibilities:Provide special education services to students (7-12)Challenge and educate students in a classroom settingDevelop and implement engaging lesson plansAdhere to the established teaching curriculumMaintain positive relationships with students and parentsDocument and share student grades and evaluationsMaintain the health and safety of all studentsCollaborate with classroom teachers, special education, and academic intervention service providersKnowledge of computers, technology, google suite, is strongly desiredQualifications:Strong classroom management skillsAbility to build rapport with students, parents, and staffExcellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong leadership qualitiesIn accordance with New York State certification requirements for special educationCertification is preferred, but applicants pursuing certification (nearing completion) are also encouraged to apply.Application deadline is until filled.Salary and Benefits: Competitive and commensurate with experience- As outlined in the most recent GBTA Collective Bargaining Agreement
