The Greater Amsterdam School District is in search of aTREASURERDistrict OfficeDuties & Responsibilities General Statement of Duties:Independently perform routine accounting functions; maintain financial accounts and records in conformity with requirements of the State Education Department, Office of the State Comptroller, General Municipal Law and policies established by the Board of Education. Assist the Accounts Clerks in the daily performance of their duties and other related duties as assigned. Distinguishing Features:The position of Treasurer is an exempt position and is appointed annually by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools.Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Working knowledge of computerized financial accounting software (the district currently uses Finance Manager software package), spreadsheet applications and the Uniform System of Accounts as prescribed by the Office of the State Comptroller. The ability to communicate well in both written and spoken language. Ability to work closely with others in the daily function of duties.Examples of Work Responsibilities:Assist the Business Manager in the daily supervision of accounting for all funds.Assist the Business Manager in the preparation of the annual District budget.Assist the Business Manger in the preparation of the quarterly and annual year end reports.Assist the Business Manager in the preparation of the short and long range District financial plans.Assist the Business Manager in the monitoring of internals controls of the District financial systems.Prepare monthly Treasurer Reports for presentation.Assist in the reconciles cash and investment accounts monthly.Assist in the disbursement and receipts of various funds.Assist in the preparation of State and Federal reports for filing.Prepares the tax collection warrant, monthly reports on tax collection and tax delinquency report for filing.Assist in the tax collection process during the warrant period.Assist in the maintaining accounts of the Special Aid Funds ProjectsTo perform such other duties as may fall within the scope of said position as requested by the Superintendent and/or Business Manager. Education, Experience and Training:A Bachelor's degree with a major in finance, accounting or related field, or Associates degree with a major in finance, accounting or related field or demonstrated experience in school or other governmental accounting positions with supervisory capacity.Compensation:Salary range for position depends on education and experience.Please apply on OLAS Jobs by September 4, 2022.
