The preferred candidate should have experience mentoring independent student research and the ability to foster inquiry-based learning and scientific thinking. The Science department at Freeport High School works closely with Brookhaven National Laboratory and colleges and universities across Long Island. Candidates must possess: Appropriate NYS certification Ability to establish and maintain positive interpersonal relations with students, parents, and staff Understanding of meeting the needs of multicultural students Key Responsibilities: Teach High School Science Research at the secondary level. Mentor and coordinate student participation in science fairs, research conferences, science competitions and symposias. Develop partnerships with university researchers, industry professionals, laboratories, and STEM organizations to support student research. Integrate laboratory experiences to deepen student understanding of scientific concepts Guide students through the complete scientific process Collaborate with colleagues to support curriculum development and effective instructional practices Foster a positive, culturally responsive, inclusive, and student-centered classroom Environment Qualifications: Valid New York State Certification in Biology (7–12), Chemistry (7–12), Physics (7–12), and/ or Earth Science (7–12). Dual Certification preferred Experience mentoring independent student research. Strong knowledge of scientific research methodology. Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
