The Freeport Union Free School District seeks an experienced School Counselor to serve as its Director of Guidance. The ideal candidate will ensure the implementation and supervision of a comprehensive guidance program for middle and high school students and will collaborate with school and district administration to ensure student academic needs are met. The candidate must have experience in developing and overseeing all systems pertaining to aspects of the college search and admissions process as well as systems that define a high performing high school guidance program. The Director of Guidance will be responsible for leading a talented guidance department as well as scheduling and designing scholarly events that pertain to academic advising and college/career planning for a high performing school district. Qualifications: Administrative Certification Required (SDA or SDL) School Counselor Certification Required Minimum of five (5) years’ experience as a School Counselor Experience with and knowledge of the college admissions process, the Naviance Program and financial aid Knowledge of current trends and best practices in school counseling and guidance Familiarity with student information systems and data analysis tools Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire others Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written Demonstrate ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including students, parents, teachers, and community members ONLY ONLINE APPLICATIONS ACCEPTED
