Freeport High School is looking for a New York-certified Life Science Biology teacher for a --tenure-track Science teaching position grades 7-12. The preferred candidate should have a New York State Living Environment teaching license and a bilingual (Spanish) extension for the 2026-2027 school year. The Science department at Freeport High School works closely with Brookhaven National Laboratory and colleges and universities across Long Island. Candidates must possess: ¨ Appropriate NYS certification ¨ Ability to establish and maintain positive interpersonal relations with students, parents, and staff ¨ Understanding of meeting the needs of multicultural students Key Responsibilities: Teach Biology and general science courses at the secondary level Deliver high-quality instruction aligned with the New York State Learning Standards and Science department initiatives Develop and implement standards-aligned lesson plans that incorporate project-based learning, hands-on lab activities, and inquiry-based instruction Integrate laboratory experiences to deepen student understanding of scientific concepts Utilize data to assess student progress regularly and provide timely, meaningful feedback Collaborate with colleagues to support curriculum development and effective instructional practices Foster a positive, culturally responsive, inclusive, and student-centered classroom environment Qualifications: Valid New York State Biology certification required Experience teaching secondary science courses preferred Dual certification preferred Excellent communication, collaboration, and classroom management skills Qualified and interested candidates should respond to www.olasjobs.org/longisland ( http://www.olasjobs.org/longisland ) ONLY ONLINE APPLICATIONS ACCEPTED
