Job Title: Instructional Coach – ELA (Grades 6-12) Position Overview The Instructional Coach is a school leader dedicated to elevating teacher practice and student outcomes. This role focuses on high-impact professional development through in-room modeling, reflective coaching, and data-driven grade-level meetings. The ideal candidate fosters a collaborative environment, promotes reflective inquiry, and ensures all student populations receive high-quality, data-informed instruction. Key Responsibilities Our Instructional Coaches bridge the gap between curriculum design and classroom execution. Responsibilities include: Coaching & Mentorship: Provide non-evaluative feedback to teachers through modeling, classroom observations, and reflective inquiry. Data-Driven Instruction: Facilitate the collection and analysis of student performance data to inform vertical and horizontal alignment. Professional Development: Design and lead diverse PD structures, including collegial circles, 5-hour in-service sessions, and full-day workshops. Curriculum & Assessment: Guide teachers in refining instructional units, deepening ELA content knowledge, and designing standards-based assessments. Technology Integration: Support teachers and students in seamlessly integrating technology to enhance learning. Leadership & Liaison: Act as a vital link between classroom teachers, building administration, and the Director for all departmental initiatives. Continuous Improvement: Participate in summer curriculum writing and regular meetings with the district-wide coaching team. Required Qualities & Qualifications We are looking for an expert educator who is passionate about secondary literacy and collaborative growth. Standards Mastery- Deep conceptual and practical understanding of NYS Next Generation ELA Standards . Instructional Depth- Expertise in teaching reading/writing to heterogeneous groups and using small-group conferring to personalize learning. Coaching Expertise- Specific training in coaching protocols and data-analysis frameworks. Classroom Excellence- Proven track record of diverse teaching techniques and strong classroom management skills. Professionalism- Exceptional organizational skills, detail-orientation, and a collaborative "team-first" mindset. Lifelong Learner- A documented enthusiasm for academic pursuits, including leading or attending advanced courses and conferences. Why Join Our Team?
