Franklin Central School District Position Opening – Automotive Mechanic Helper (12-Month Position)The Franklin Central School District is seeking a dependable and motivated individual to serve as an Automotive Mechanic Helper. This full-time, 12-month position assists in the maintenance and repair of the district’s fleet of school buses and vehicles to ensure they remain in safe operating condition. The position may also include driving a school bus as needed.Responsibilities Include:Assisting the Head Bus Driver in inspecting, servicing, and repairing school buses and other district vehicles in compliance with NYS Department of Transportation (DOT) standards.Performing basic maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire rotations, fluid checks, and parts replacement.Helping maintain accurate service and repair records.Assisting with safety inspections and preventive maintenance schedules.Keeping the bus garage, tools, and equipment clean and organized.Driving a school bus on assigned routes or trips when required.Following all safety regulations and district policies.Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent preferred.Possession of a valid NYS Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with “S” and “P” endorsements, or ability to obtain within the probationary period (training provided if necessary).Basic knowledge of automotive repair and maintenance; willingness to learn.Ability to lift, carry, and handle tools, parts, and equipment.Strong work ethic, reliability, and ability to work both independently and with a team.Must pass required background checks and physical examinations.Salary & Benefits:Competitive hourly rate based on experience and district contract.Benefits include health insurance, retirement system membership, paid leave, and training opportunities.Application Procedure: Interested candidates should submit a completed OLAS Application, resume, and three professional references to:Franklin Central School DistrictAttn: Bryan Ayres Superintendent’s Office 26 Institute Street Franklin, NY 13775
