Job Title: Jr. Sr. High School Physical Education/Health Teacher Reports To: Jr. Sr. High School Principal Salary/Pay Scale: Per current FPTA contract; level of education and experience will be considered. Start Date: 09/01/2026 Fort Plain Central School District is seeking a dynamic, student-centered Health & Physical Education Teacher for a one-year term appointment to cover a leave of absence during the 2026-2027 school year. The successful candidate will provide engaging instruction in a combination of Health Education, traditional Physical Education, and Fitness/Conditioning classes for students in grades 7-12. We are looking for an educator who is committed to promoting lifelong wellness, creating positive relationships with students, and fostering an inclusive, active learning environment. Responsibilities include: Plan and deliver standards-based instruction in Health and Physical Education. Teach a combination of Health, traditional Physical Education, and Fitness classes. Develop lessons that promote physical fitness, healthy decision-making, teamwork, and lifelong wellness. Assess student progress and maintain accurate records. Collaborate with colleagues to support student success and contribute to a positive school culture. Maintain a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment. Qualifications: Valid New York State Certification in Health and/or Physical Education (or eligibility for certification). Strong classroom management and communication skills. Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues. Commitment to meeting the diverse needs of all learners.
