The Floral Park-Bellerose School District, a Pre-K through Grade 6 elementary district in western Nassau County, has an opening for a Long-Term Substitute Teacher in a Special Education Primary Class (8:1:2) starting approximately December 1, 2025. Special Education certification and experience in an 8:1:2 class is required. Qualifications and Selection Criteria:? NYS Permanent or Professional Special Education or NYS Students with Disabilities Certification.? Knowledge of multi-disciplinary instructional techniques, research-based interventions for teaching academics as well as behavior, and strategies for collecting data and monitoring academic/behavioral progress.? Knowledge of/experience with developing and implementing positive behavioral supports, behavior intervention plans (BIPs), and functional behavioral assessments (FBAs).? Experience with classroom management, IEP goal development and progress monitoring.General Responsibilities:? Provide instruction and support for students with autism and other intellectual disabilities.? Use ABA instruction and AAC devices.? Work positively with staff and communicate effectively with administration/parents.? Lead classroom staff and collaborate with other members of the special education team.? Communicate effectively with parents on a regular basis.? Work closely with other related services providers not limited to SLT, OT, PT, Psychologists and Behavior Consultant.?
