The Floral Park-Bellerose Elementary School District has openings for AIS Reading Specialist Teachers for the 2023-2024 school year.Selection Criteria: MA degree in Literacy and/or ReadingNYS Certification in Literacy (birth-grade 6)Strong experience with a variety of Reading Interventions such as Fundations, Wilson Reading System, Reading Horizons, and/or Phonics for Reading Experience in the use of various diagnostic assessments including running records, DIBELS Assessment System, progress monitoring tools and others to assess specific skills and components of reading to determine specific instructional needsA minimum of five years teaching, in an elementary school or middle school settingA teaching philosophy that focuses on growth in academic, social and emotional domainsA collaborative, teamwork-oriented approachThorough knowledge of Next Generation English Language Arts Learning StandardsExcellent written and verbal communication skills as well as proficiency in the use of Google Classroom Tools: Drive, Docs, Slides, and SheetsProvides leadership as a resource to other educators, parents and the school community.General Duties and ResponsibilitiesPlanning standards-based lessons that lead to increased student achievementBe able to assess and deliver differentiated instruction based on student dataHelp students to develop social and emotional competencies to be successfulCommunicate with parents regarding reading progress and supports, as well as any district workshops and Board of Education meetings as neededCollaborate with district colleagues based on identified needs of students to ensure students make academic progressProvide targeted research-based intervention programs to students based on need inside/outside of the classroom in small groups or 1:1 setting.Participate in MTSS or CSE meetings to share student data, progress, and performance outcomesAnalyze district assessment data to determine targeted needs of students and research-based intervention programsSalary: $68,634.00, pending contract negotiations.APPLICATION: Submit a cover letter and resume indicating your interest and qualifications on OLAS.Application Deadline: 08/01/2023Start Date: 09/05/2023
