Daily responsibilities of a Licensed Practical Nurse may include: Collaborate and assist Registered Nurse in the functions of the FFCS Health OfficeAssist or create health reports that support student recordsTake vital signs (temperature, blood pressure, pulse and respiration)Assessing the status of a student’s immunization documentation and creating health plans for individuals with specific health needsState Immunization ReportingConnecting families to clinics to get immunizationsEntering immunization records in Synergy for all studentsProviding healthcare initiatives within the schoolHandling minor health issues that occur dailyDispensing students’ prescribed medicationsKeeping medication lockedKeeping record of dispensed prescribed medicationsCoordinating regular dental, hearing and vision screeningsHelp coach staff as necessaryCompassionate and friendly demeanorIn addition to working with students, school nurses have other responsibilities, including making home visits, attending conferences, completing medical paperwork and attending various school meetings.Full Performance, Knowledges, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics:Working knowledge of nursing techniques and their relation to medical practices. Knowledge of sanitation and hygiene, ability to apply therapeutic treatments as prescribed. Ability to understand and carry out exactly detailed oral and written instructions. Ability to keep records and make reports. Ability to get along well with students and others. Physical condition sufficient to perform the essential duties of the position. A clearance for employment from the State Education Department is required.
