DIRECTOR OF CURRICULUM AND INSTRUCTION NYS Certification as a School District Leader RequiredCompetitive Salary and BenefitsPreferred Requirements:Minimum of Two years of successful administrative experience; a minimum of five years successful teaching experience; strong background in literacy; demonstrated knowledge of NYS learning standards, demonstrated knowledge of the Annual Professional Performance Review (APPR) process, K-12 state and local assessments; experience and/or ability to review and analyze data to improve instructional practices and ensure school accountability; demonstrated experience with technology integration, experience and/or ability to monitor and write grants.Reports to:Superintendent of Schools Purpose of Position:To provide educational leadership and oversight in the ongoing development and continual improvement in all aspects of the District’s instructional program; to coordinate state and District assessments K-12 and generate reports to stakeholders including the Board of Education and the community; to oversee the professional development of instructional staff; to coordinate the evaluation of instructional staff and tenure appointments; and oversee grant writing and budgetary matters related to this role/department. This position reports to the Superintendent. He/she will work cooperatively with all other staff to ensure effective delivery of the curriculum and instruction program, achievement of other District and building goals, and implementation of Board of Education policies and directives.Key Functions: Curriculum and Instruction:Oversee, coordinate, implement, and systematically revise curricula and the instructional process to ensure the alignment both vertically (K-12) and horizontally (among and within buildings and grade levels);Oversee and monitor vertical curriculum guide process;Coordinate and participate in District curriculum, instruction, and assessment meetings and other curriculum related meetings, as necessary;Organize, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive professional development program to support the curriculum and instruction program;Review, track, coordinate, and analyze District and state assessment data, including all District wide testing programs, NYS required assessments, alternative assessment research and development, and the District Comprehensive Assessment Report;Ensure that NYS test integrity regulations and guidelines are followed and enforced in collaboration with building principals;Coordinate and track the contractual and state mandated professional development requirements, including but not limited to developing and planning short term and long term professional development goals in collaboration with the professional development planning committee;Provide input and guidance to principals and department supervisors on staff development (i.e. teacher improvement plans) and teacher supervision and evaluation, as appropriate;Apply on OLAS
