Seward Institute, a small high school nestled in the heart of Orange County, NY, is seeking a passionate and dedicated High School Counselor to join our team. As a High School Counselor, you will play a pivotal role in supporting our students' academic, social, and emotional development, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary tools to thrive in their future endeavors. Responsibilities:Provide individual and group counseling sessions to address academic, personal, and career-related concerns of students.Build and foster meaningful relationships with all stakeholders.Develop master schedule to meet the changing needs of our students from year to year. Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to develop and implement strategies for student success.Conduct assessments to identify students' strengths, interests, and areas for growth.Assist students in navigating the college application process, including advising on course selection, standardized testing, and financial aid.Organize and facilitate workshops and presentations on topics such as study skills, time management, and career exploration.Serve as an advocate for students, ensuring their needs are met and their voices are heard within the school community.Maintain accurate and confidential student records in accordance with state and federal regulations. Qualifications:Master's degree in School Counseling or related field.New York State certification in School Counseling (or eligibility for certification).Previous experience working with high school students in a counseling capacity preferred.Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.Master scheduling experience.Knowledge of college admissions processes, financial aid options, and career exploration resources (familiarity with Naviance preferred).Commitment to the mission, vision, and core values of the Florida Union Free School District.
