This position may be designated 55 b/c and is subject to verification of applicant eligibility.Employer: NYS Office of Children and Family ServicesLocation: Finger Lakes Residential Center250 Auburn RoadLansing, NY 14882Duties:As a Vocational Specialist 1 you would serve as a member of a treatment team at an OCFS secure, limited secure or non-secure treatment center for court placed/committed youth.Under general supervision, assess the vocational needs of individual youth, develop and follow individual academic and career education plans, provide job readiness instruction, including employment counseling services, oversee development of youth portfolios (vocational folders), supervise work-based learning programs, and assist in job development efforts.Supervise Vocational Instructors in the implementation of the various components of the career education and employment training program.Additional duties will be discussed in detail during the interview.ProvisionalCompetitive ClassPS&T - Professional, Scientific, and Technical (PEF)Background Investigation Requirements:1) All prospective employees will be investigated through a Criminal Background Check (CBC), which includes State and federal Criminal History Record Checks. Prospective employees will be required to pay any necessary fees.3) For Division of Juvenile Justice and Opportunities for Youth (DJJOY) prospective appointees will be checked against the Staff Exclusion List (SEL) maintained by the Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs.
