Franklin Square UFSD is seeking a forward-thinking, student-centered Elementary Librarian to lead a future-ready library and makerspace program. This role blends library leadership, instructional collaboration, and a commitment to innovation in early childhood education.Qualifications:Valid NYS teaching certificate (Library Certification or Educational Technology Specialist preferred)Experience working with elementary-aged students in a library, instructional, or makerspace setting (3 or more years preferred)Passion for children’s literature, early literacy, and digital learningStrong communication, collaboration, and instructional skillsDemonstrated ability to create engaging, inclusive, and hands-on learning experiencesFamiliarity with current trends in AI, makerspaces, 3D printing, robotics, and STEAM education Key Responsibilities:Cultivate a warm, inclusive, and engaging library environment that supports reading, inquiry, and imaginationCurate and maintain a diverse and developmentally appropriate collection of print and digital resourcesCollaborate with classroom teachers to integrate library, literacy, and STEAM experiences into the K-6 curriculumPlan and facilitate makerspace activities and design challenges that promote problem-solving, creativity, and collaborationManage daily library operations, including scheduling, circulation, and budgetingPromote literacy through school-wide reading programs, author visits, book fairs, and engaging displaysSupport students’ use of educational technology and emerging media tools in a safe, responsible mannerFoster student voice and agency through exploration, storytelling, and innovation
