Fort Edward UFSD is currently seeking a candidate to fill an anticipated vacancy of a full-time Secondary School Principal / Director of Pupil Services, beginning July 1, 2025.The Secondary School Principal will be responsible for leading and supporting a dedicated team of educators, engaging families and the community, and ensuring a positive and rigorous learning environment for all students. The ideal candidate will have a strong instructional background, a commitment to equity, and the ability to inspire and lead with vision and integrity.Key Responsibilities:Provide instructional leadership and support high-quality teaching and learning practices.Foster a positive school culture that prioritizes student engagement, achievement, and well-being.Supervise and evaluate faculty and staff to ensure continuous growth and professional development.Establish and maintain strong relationships with students, families, and the community to support a collaborative learning environment.Create a culture of excellence, teamwork and collaboration amongst the staff, teachers, students, and families.Oversee school operations, including scheduling, budgeting, and compliance with district policies and state regulations.Use data-driven decision-making to inform instructional practices and improve student outcomes.Promote and ensure a safe, inclusive, and respectful school environment.Ensure the safety and security of all students, staff, visitors, and public and property.Ensure an orderly learning environment.Ensure appropriate standards of student behavior, performance, and attendance.Ensure that all disciplinary issues are addressed fairly and consistent to the FEUFSD Code of Conduct.Serve as Administrator over Special Education, including:Direct, support, and coordinate all programs for at-risk children, particularly special education students.Direct and support all activities related to the Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE), the Committee on Special Education (CSE) and the Section 504 Committee.Ensure compliance with all federal and state reporting requirements related to programs for at-risk students.Provide leadership for, coordination of, and monitoring for all Pupil Support services. This includes, but is not limited to: guidance services, social work services, psychological services, speech/language services, occupational and physical therapy services, etc. Develop a pertinent annual budget which is consistent with fiscal guidelines provided by the Business Office, Superintendent, and Board of Education. Complete all relevant requirements as related to reimbursements for students with disabilities. This includes, but is not limited to: state and federal aid, STAC forms, Medicaid, etc.Actively participates in the recruitment, hiring, assignment, staff development, and evaluation of professional support staff (psychologists, social workers, guidance counselors, school nurses and physicians, speech and language teachers, occupational and physical therapists, etc.).Oversee student IEPs and Accommodation Plans. Establish procedures to ensure compliance with the plans.Establish and coordinate a Crisis Intervention Team PreK-12 and Instructional Support Team PreK-12.Chairs the Committee on districts CPSE, CSE and the Section 504 Committee.Oversees special education extended school year summer program and extended day programming.Evaluates assigned programs on an ongoing basis and recommends changes, as needed, for efficiency and effectiveness. Knowledgeable of all legal requirements, trends, and practices pertaining to special education and other pupil service programs. Disseminates professional information to district and administrators.Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent. Qualifications:New York State SDL or SDA Certification required.Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience.Prior administrative or leadership experience preferred.Valid Certificate of Special Education or School Psychologist preferred.Three years of successful special education experience is preferred.Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum, instruction, and assessment best practices.Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships with all stakeholders.Rate of Pay:As per Fort Edward Administrators Association Contract; will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
