ANNOUNCEMENT OF PROFESSIONAL OPENING Leave Replacement Special Education TeacherAnticipated August 27, 2025 - November 19, 2025 Start Date:August 27, 2025 Job DescriptionThe East Williston School District seeks a leave replacement special education teacher for the 2025-2026 school year. It is anticipated that the position will be at Willets Road School. Required Qualifications Students with Disabilities (All Grades) or Students with Disabilities (Grades 7-12) Mathematics (7-12) and/or any Science certification (7-12) Key Responsibilities and Preferred Knowledge of Special Education principles, theories, testing, methods, etc., as well as proven methods of maximizing the educational experience of students with special needs Knowledge of differentiated instructional practices Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students Conducts assessments, testing, and diagnostic examinations of students to identify learning issues and recommend courses of action or corrective procedures to overcome issues and maximize learning Assists in developing Individual Educational Plans ("IEPs") for students Assists students and teaching staff in implementing students' IEPs Coordinates with administrators and other teaching staff members to ascertain individual students' abilities and needs Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops, or professional meetings Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents How to ApplyPlease apply, including a job-specific cover letter and resume, on OLAS by Sunday, July 20th: Edward KemnitzerAssistant Superintendent for Instruction and Personnel11 Bacon RoadOld Westbury, NY 11568
