This position is being advertised for East Rockaway Junior/Senior High School. About East Rockaway UFSD The East Rockaway School District is located in Nassau County, NY. The district is home to over 1,100 students from grades Pre-K through 12. The district is seeking a motivated individual who meets the following qualifications: New York State Teacher Certification: Students with Disabilities 7-12 Certificate (Initial, Professional) or equivalent. Additional certification or content area extensions preferred. Experience: Applicants with at least 1-2 years of working in a secondary self-contained special education classroom preferred. Experience working in an ABA classroom strongly preferred. The ideal candidate will also possess the following qualities: Experienced in 8:1:2 self-contained special education classroom settings Collaborative, empathetic, and innovative professional with strong communication and organizational skills Experienced in discrete trial training, including designing and managing individualized program books Experienced in providing vocational training and teaching daily living skills. Proficient in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), with direct experience managing multi-student classrooms with active Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) Knowledgeable in IEP development and delivering targeted, data-driven instruction to support student goal attainment Experienced working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Demonstrated strength in classroom and behavior management strategies and techniques Experienced in training and collaborating with teacher aides to assist students The East Rockaway School District offers a competitive salary and benefits package, which is established in the East Rockaway Teacher’s Association Contract for the 2026-27 school year.
