The district is seeking a motivated individual who meets the following qualifications: New York State Teacher Certification: School Counselor, School Social Worker, or School Psychologist (Provisional or Permanent). Experience: We welcome applications from individuals at all levels of experience. The successful candidate will have the following responsibilities, which are subject to change: Supervise and support students in the school’s Calm Down Room, providing a safe, structured, and supportive environment for students who need a brief reset during the day. Build positive relationships with students utilizing de-escalation, active listening, and restorative practices. Collaborate with counselors, social workers, psychologists, administrators, and teachers to support student success. Provide coverage for classroom-based Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) lessons and support staff push-in services when needed. Assist with other student support initiatives as assigned. The East Rockaway School District offers a competitive salary, which is established in the East Rockaway Board of Education Non-Contractual Salary Schedule for the 2026-27 school year.
