This position is being advertised for the East Rockaway Jr./Sr, High School. The anticipated start and end dates for this position are August 31, 2026, to on or about November 23, 2026. About East Rockaway UFSD The East Rockaway School District is located in Nassau County, NY. The district is home to over 1,100 students from grades Pre-K through 12. The district is seeking a motivated individual who meets the following qualifications: New York State Teacher Certification: Library Media Specialist (Initial or Professional). Experience: We welcome applications from individuals at all levels of experience. The successful candidate will have the following responsibilities, which are subject to change: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the library Supports programs and actions that facilitate a positive, caring climate for learning and an orderly, purposeful environment Creates an environment that embraces 21st century technology and learning Collaborate with classroom teachers as partners in the instructional process Evaluate, promote, and use existing and emerging technologies to support teaching and learning Promote the ethical use of information including cyber safety Promote instructional technology to improve learning Proven ability to lead students through the research process Foster a creative, flexible environment so that the school library is an essential part of the learning community Plans and administers the library budget in such a way that it supports and enriches the curriculum of the school Acts as a resource person to assist teachers in the planning and implementing of units of study Supervises library aide Adheres to policies established by federal law, state law, State Board of Education policies and administrative regulations Actively participates in professional organizations, disseminates ideas and information to other professionals Provides leadership in identifying new methods and opportunities that benefit both the library program and the district Fulfills any other responsibility assigned by his/her supervisor/administrator or central office administration The East Rockaway School District offers a competitive salary, which is established in the East Rockaway Board of Education Non-Contractual Salary Schedule for the 2026-27 school year.
