The district is seeking a motivated individual who meets the following qualifications:New York State Teacher Certification: Work-Based Learning Coordinator (Professional).Experience: We welcome applications from individuals at all levels of experience.Position Overview:The East Rockaway Union Free School District is anticipating the creation of a probationary full-time position for the 2026-27 school year.This is an exciting opportunity to build a Work-Based Learning program from the ground up! We are seeking a dynamic, self-starter to serve as our Work-Based Learning Coordinator, connecting students with meaningful career experiences and fostering strong partnerships between education and industry. This role will be instrumental in developing a comprehensive work-based learning program, coordinating teacher-led experiences, facilitating job placements, and ensuring alignment with Career Development and Occupational Studies (CDOS) standards.Key Responsibilities:Teach Work-Based Learning Courses Develop and maintain industry partnerships with local businesses, organizations, and professionals to expand work-based learning opportunities.Collaborate with educators to integrate work-based learning components into the curriculum and provide necessary support.Coordinate job shadowing, internships, apprenticeships, and other hands-on experiences that align with students' academic and career goals.Conduct site visits to monitor student progress and ensure quality experiences.Assist students in job readiness, including resume writing, interview preparation, and job search strategies.Develop and maintain a job opening board available to all studentsStay current on industry trends and labor market demands to tailor opportunities to student interests.Ensure compliance with CDOS requirements, maintaining accurate records of student placements, progress, and work-based learning hours.Provide support for special education students in work-based learning programs, working closely with special education staff.Serve as a key member of the K-12 School Counseling Advisory Committee.Plan and coordinate the annual Future Fair, Career Day, & Other Related Events, fostering relationships with industry partners to enhance career exploration opportunities in collaboration with the school counseling department.
